Employee Spotlight

We are proud to introduce our newest employee, Norm Hamrick! Ever since he joined the pocket door guys, Norm has always been ready and willing to learn, and he never turns down a challenge. He has already been such a great addition to our team, and it truly shows that he puts his heart into everything he does. We wanted to share a little bit about him so you guys can see what a great person he is in and out of the pocket door workshop.

Q: What is your experience in the construction field?

A: I've been doing construction for 36 years. I started out framing, then moved to trim carpentry. After about 5 years, I partnered with my father-in-law and later he passed the business on to me.

Q: Why did you choose construction as your career path?

A: I wasn't sure what I wanted to do, so I thought I would give construction a try. Framing was interesting, but I liked the trim end of the business more.

Q: What is your favorite part about working in the construction industry?

A: I liked seeing wood turned into the focal point of the house. At the end of the day, it felt good to look back and see the beauty in what you did!

Q: What advice would you give to someone who owns a construction business?

A: Make sure you love what you do, and don’t just make it about money. Taking pleasure in what you’ve accomplished will mean a lot more at the end of your life than how much money you’ve made.

Q: How do you spend your time outside of work?

A: I’ve always tried to put my wife and kids at the top of my priority list, often ahead of my work. I enjoyed quality time with my wife going to as many of my kids' events as I could. I enjoyed hunting and fishing, but more than anything I enjoy glorifying God in everything I do, work or play!

Q: What is something new you’ve learned at the pocket door workshop?

A: Not sure if it is new, but that quality comes before speed. It is not about how many frames you put out, but how great each one is.

As you can see, we are very lucky to have Norm on our team! We can't wait to see where this new journey in construction takes him. We know he has always flourished in this industry. We are so excited to teach him more about the art of pocket frames and see what we can learn from his experience. We want you to know how much we appreciate you, Norm. Welcome to the team, pocket door guy!

I have had the pleasure of working with my son Mike for a lot of years. In the beginning as well as throughout I have been able to share my knowledge and life experience with him. More recently he has been leading me into the next generation with a whole new way of doing things with technology. It’s time for me to allow you to lead the way. I can’t think of a better person to work with you than the new “Pocket Door Guy”! Welcome Norm Hamrick. The original Pocket Door Guy Jim
